Leonard Steinbrueck passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010. The Steinbrueck’s were long time residences of Malibu and now reside in Oxnard, California. He was 83. Steinbrueck was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 9, 1927. He and Muriel, his wife of over 58 years, were married August 11, 1951 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from the University of Michigan with his Architecture & Engineering degree in 1950. He also served in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserves until 1957. In 1952 he was stationed in Sacramento at Mather Air Force Base where he and Muriel started their family. They have lived in Los Angeles since 1953. Steinbrueck had an Architectural, Structural Engineering, General Contractors and Real Estate License in California. He also had a Masters Degree in Education and Teaching Credential. He taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District and Santa Monica/Malibu School District. Steinbrueck founded his own Architectural Firm which designed many buildings in the Los Angeles area including the UCLA Lutheran Chapel and many homes in Malibu with his daughter, Karen. Steinbrueck enjoyed reading, education, architectural and home renovation which he did throughout his life. He enjoyed his four grandchildren and was always involved in their lives. Later in life, he had the pleasure of holding his great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Muriel; sister Mildred Steinbrueck; daughters Karen Dianella and Janice Vicioso; his grandchildren Christopher with wife Emily, Michael, Kimberly with husband Blake, and Matthew; great grandchildren Audrey, Abigail, Madelyn and Courtney, who is due to arrive in June. He will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends. He will live on in our hearts and through the legacy he has left behind. There will be a “Celebration of Life” on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Steinbrueck home in Oxnard.
