LCDR Ret. Lawrence (Larry) G. Mullen, USN passed away on December 10, 2013 at the age of 89. Larry and his wife Lorraine have lived in Camarillo since 1970 and were active members of Saint Mary Magdalen parish. Larry was born November 28, 1924, one of eight children born to Edward and Anna Mullen in Boston, Massachusetts. He is survived by siblings Jean Holden and Jerry Mullen. Brothers Edward, Robert, Joseph, Timothy and Donald preceded him. Larry joined the US Navy at the age of 16 and remained for 30 years. He served in aviation operations during WWII, the Korean conflict, and Viet Nam. After retiring from the Navy, Larry worked for Sears for 14 years. Many will remember him from the former Sears Appliance and Catalogue store in Camarillo. Larry and Lorraine were married 1954 in Alameda, CA. He was very proud of his son Tom and daughters Kathe, Jean (Anger), Carolyn (Searle), Mary, and April (Day), 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was a man of faith and treasured his time with family and friends. Larry and Lorraine travelled extensively and they loved to dance. He was often the last man standing on the dance floor. A prayer and memory vigil will be held on Sunday, Dec 22 from 6-8 pm at the Perez Family Funeral Home, 1347 Del Norte Rd in Camarillo. On Monday, Dec 23, a funeral mass is scheduled for 12 noon at Saint Mary Magdalen Church, 25 Las Posas Rd in Camarillo. A gravesite blessing and military honors are planned for 2 pm at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd in Camarillo, followed by a reception in the Conejo Mountain Community Room. The Perez Family funeral home is handling all arrangements, and can be reached at 805-983-3457. In lieu of flowers, Larry requested that donations be sent to St Mary Magdalen School in Camarillo. We thank family and friends for your prayers and support. We will all miss him.
