Laura Lopez

Laura Duran Lopez, Moorpark Laura passed away peacefully on November 16, 2014 at the age of 90 in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 10, 1924 to the parents of Vincente and Jovita Duran and was a lifetime resident of Moorpark. Laura was married to John B. Lopez for 67 years. Laura was raised on Walnut Canyon Road, were she later moved up the street to the house her husband built for her in the 1960’s. Together they raised five children; Bertha (Manuel Barrera), Esther (Ernie Fernandez), Rita (Jr, Hatcher), John Lopez (Cindy), and Steve Lopez. She enjoyed spending time with her 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Laura enjoyed watching sporting events of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, going to casinos, taking family vacations, sunbathing, taking walks, yelling at referees, getting a Famous Star at Carl’s Jr, weekly Sunday and Friday breakfast at the cactus patch, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband John B. Lopez, daughter Esther Fernandez, grandson Johnny Lopez, brothers Cruz, Pete, Joe, Angel, Arthur Duran, sisters Lucy and Rita. She is survived by sisters Virginia Romero and Jenny Beserra. Laura will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation for Laura will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 5-9pm located at the Perez Family Funeral Home in Camarillo. A vigil will begin at 7pm. Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Tuesday November 25th located at Holy Cross Church in Moorpark. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
