Kenneth (Ken) Jacobs, 54, beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle graced us from January 20, 1960 through July 28, 2014. Ken was the 3rd child born of Robert and Lois Jacobs, and was raised in Marmet, West Virginia.
Ken lived and worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and paramedic in Washington, DC, where when responding to a 911 call he met his wife and love, Sheryl (Williams) Jacobs. Sheryl was his patient. He was also one of the founding members of the Charleston Area Medical Center flight medic program. Ken later completed his education and became a Registered Nurse. Ken and Sheryl moved together several times in their 22 years of marriage, most recently living in Moorpark, CA.
Ken’s legacy and greatest accomplishment was his family. His daughter, Mariah, was his pride and joy; he was so proud of the young lady she is becoming. Ken also had a much more extended family - almost everyone Ken came into contact with became his family. He was kind-hearted, loving, and “took care of” all who knew him.
Ken was most notably known for his loyalty and humor. He always had a quick comment or comeback to almost any situation, managing to keep the tone light. He was truly a best friend for life. He was quick to listen to a problem, work on a home improvement project, or help others through volunteer work.
Ken is survived by his wife, Sheryl, daughter Mariah, sisters Lynn, Donna, and Megan. father-in-law Marvin Williams, and a wealth of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Mike, who is survived by wife, Pam.
We will continue to remember Ken’s spirit and relive his antics through the fond retelling and sharing of stories and pictures.
Services will be celebrated on Friday, August 1st with a 10:00 am viewing, followed by an 11:00 am memorial service at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, located at 1360 S. Wendy Drive, Newbury Park, CA 91320, with a reception to follow the service.
