Katie Herbert, age 77. passed from Earth to Heaven on January 15, 2011. She was born on February 23, 1933 in Texas to Fred and Luevenia Sanders. She is survived her her husband, Scanlon (Herb) Herbert, who lives in Ventura, CA. She leaves a son, Vernon Mitchell and his fiance Gloria Silva of Port Hueneme and a daughter, Deedra Busch, spouse, Westley of Oxnard. She is survived by four sisters: Ruthie Baines of Oxnard, CA. Bertha Hilliard, of Tennessee, Luetta Gales of Camarillo, CA. and Delphina Turner of Sunnyvale, CA. She is preceded in death by her sister, Josie and brothers, Charles and Willie. She leaves the 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews. Katie will be missed by her friends and other loved ones. One of Katie's favorite colors was red which symbolizes strength, passion, and confidence. Katie was a woman of confidence, once she decided to do something, she did it wholeheartedly and if she did not want to something, nothing could change her mind and that was it!
