Kathleen Rubin, (nee O’Farrell), age 78 passed away Friday February 17, 2016, in Camarillo, CA. Kay was born and raised in Chicago, IL, attended the University of Chicago Laboratory School, and received a degree in Education from the University of Chicago. Kay taught 2nd and 3rd grades for a short time in the Chicago Public Schools, and then in Westmont, IL for more than 30 years. For the last 15 years, Kathleen had divided her time between Du Page County, IL and Camarillo, CA, where she resided in Leisure Village. In Leisure Village she was active in the Knitting Club, Book Club, Sewing Club, Water Aerobics, attended local symphony concerts, and played Bridge. She treasured her neighbors and the many friends she made in these clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Mark M. Rubin, and is survived by a daughter, Susan (Paolo) Littleton Sestini of Torino, Italy, step son Jeffrey Rubin, step daughter Kaila Rubin, sister Ellen (Philip) Leavitt, many nieces, nephews and cousins, particularly Gerald Thomas and Darlene Slater, grandnephews Philip and Todd Slater, and her special friend Donald Bouck. A memorial service will be held in the Multi Purpose Room in the Leisure Village Recreation Center, Camarillo, Saturday February 25, at 2 pm. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Kay’s memory. Burial will be in Illinois.
