Karol Ballantine

Karol Anne Ballantine, of Ojai, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at her home in Ojai, California. She had been an Ojai resident for 22 years. Karol was born November 5, 1958 in Natick, Massachusetts to Paul and Doris Ballantine. Karol was a 1976 graduate of Westwood High School in Westwood, Massachusetts and a 1980 graduate of Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. A noted expert in the petroleum industry and as an environmental engineer, Karol traveled the globe supporting both oil exploration and environmental conservation efforts. Most recently, she was an Environmental Advisor at Aera Energy LLC of Southern California after holding positions as a Director at IT Corporation/Shaw E&I, a Manager of Environmental Health and Safety at UNOCAL and a MWD Manager at Anadrill-Schlumberger. She was president of the Meiners Oaks Water Board and was fully engaged in conservation and charitable efforts throughout Southern California. A proud mother of two wonderful children, Karol was an active supporter of children's education and youth sports in Ojai. She was extremely proud of her son's, Konnor, recent recognition as an Ojai Valley Little League 2011 Sportsmanship Award winner. Karol is survived by her loving husband, Eric Ewing. an airline pilot for US Airways and a local business owner, her wonderful children, Konnor 12 and Kirsten 8, her adoring parents, Paul and Doris Ballantine of West Harwich, MA and Bradenton, FL and her sisters, Susan Mistler of Norfolk, MA and Paula Waller of Naples, Italy.
