Juan “Chicano” Piña died unexpectedly in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 15, 2020 at the young age of 48.
Chicano is survived by his mother, Maria Rosa Alcantar Piña, of Oxnard, CA; sister, Maria Carmen Pina, of Oxnard, CA; his children, Juan Jr., Sophia and Joseph Piña, all of Oxnard, CA; and by the mother of his children, Rosie Cruz. As well as his loving nieces and nephew, Ailene, Juan, Jasmin, Anel and Juan Manuel Barrera. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Guadalupe Piña.
Chicano was born on May 24, 1972 in Ventura, CA. He graduated from Rio Mesa High School in 1990. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps in which he joined in 1993. During his four year enlistment he was stationed in South Carolina, North Carolina, San Diego, CA and Okinawa, Japan and was honorably discharged in 1997, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He then returned home and went on to work as an IT technician.
There will be a viewing at Perez Family Funeral Home located at 1347 Del Norte Rd, Camarillo, CA 93010 on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 4PM-5:30PM and rosary at 5:30PM. On Saturday, August 1, 2020 a mass will be held at the Perez Family Funeral Home at 11AM with the Military Funeral Honors to immediately follow. Due to the pandemic, all services will take place outside. Face masks are required and there are no public restrooms. Face masks and hand sanitizer will be provided if needed.
