Joshua Anthony Buttitta was born in Thousand Oaks, California to Marcelle and Chuck Buttitta on March 25, 1986. Thousand Oaks is where Josh grew up going to school, playing sports and enjoying his friends. After high school Josh attended San Jose State and graduated with a BS in aerospace engineering. He returned to Thousand Oaks where he worked at MGI in Moorpark for a year. From there he accepted a job at Lockheed-Martin in Palmdale. Here he worked on the F-35 and U-2 aircraft. After two years at Lockheed he moved to the San Diego area to work for General Atomics. At this company he worked on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. His most recent project dealt with a new aircraft for the Army. His primary job was designing and developing the wing structure.
Josh was always doing something. He was not one to sit still. His activities would include friends, family, cousins and his dog – Talon. Some of the things he enjoyed doing included golf, snowboard, water sports, teaching his dog to surf, traveling to sports shrines such as the Cowboy’s home stadium, traveling to Nashville for his 30th birthday or long hikes with his dog. Football viewing took place at Josh’s home during the fall. Creative holidays were dreamed up as excuses for friends to get together. If you had a dog, there was a birthday party for him/her. Closets were raided for ugliest Christmas sweater parties. And through this all, Josh was always there for family events. He usually was the one to have the cousins sneak out to In and Out right before his aunt served Christmas Eve dinner.
Joshua is survived by his parent, Marcelle and Chuck, brother Andrew and sister-in-law Mandy. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and the most wonderful loving friends – all who made him the great person he is.
A visitation for Josh will begin at 10am located at Holy Cross Church, 13955 Peach Hill Road in Moorpark. Mass will be celebrated at 11am also at Holy Cross Church.
