Josephine Ortiz Valdivia

Josephine “Josie” Ortiz Valdivia, 53, passed away February 13, 2015 with a beautiful smile on her face in the presence of her beloved children.
Born on December 7, 1961, in Ventura, CA to Heliodoro and Magdalena Ortiz, Josie spent most of her life in El Rio, CA. In 1981, Josie graduated from Rio Mesa High School. Professionally, Josie worked as a Longshoremen at the Port of Hueneme for 28 years.
Josie dedicated her life to the Lord and loved to attend church at New Life Community Church in Oxnard. She loved to worship and attend life groups with fellow church members. She enjoyed listening to Gospel/ Worship music and dancing along to the beat. Josie was known to brighten up the room with her beautiful smile. She enjoyed spending her evenings and weekends with her four children and their respective spouses and children. The highlight of Josie’s life was found in her time spent with her grandchildren. She was an active part of their lives including babysitting, family parties and attending softball and baseball games. Her 10 grandchildren will miss their “Nani” in their daily lives very much.
Josie is survived by her children Arnold (Veronica) Valdivia, Moses (Danielle) Valdivia, Brandie (Eddie) Cortez and Angelina (Andy) Lopez and her 10 grandchildren, Sierra, Syanna, Eddie, Nathaniel, Analia, Charlie, Knoxx, Josiah, Jaylene and Ava – all of Ventura County. She is also survived by her mother, Magdalena Ortiz (El Rio); siblings, Alfredo Lopez, Antonia Magaña, Albert Rodriguez, Irene Ortiz, Leo Ortiz, Johnny Ortiz and Connie Ortiz.
Josie is proceeded in death by her loving father Heliodoro Ortiz and grandmother Josefina Ortiz for whom she was named.
A funeral service for Josie will be celebrated on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 10:00am located at New Life Community Church, 1251 N. Rice Ave in Oxnard. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.
