Jesus Mendez

Jesus (Pop) Mendez Rivero Of Oxnard, Ca. passed away March 22,2010. He was born in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico on February 23, 1934 to Jacinto Mendez Ruiz and Lilia Rivero. He married Mireya Fonseca Canto on July 19, 1953 in Merida, Yucatan. He was raised in Merida and came to the United States in 1964. He played semi-professional baseball in Merida as a young man. He was a tireless worker and worked for Peto Seed for 34 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mireya Fonseca Mendez of Oxnard, his five children Manuel, Rosa, Gabriel, Martha, and Carlos. 15 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren: two sisters Mary and Addy: one brother Francisco and his mother Lilia Rivero. He is preceeded in death by his father Jacinto. Jesus Mendez was pop and papi Chucho to all of us and he will truly be missed by his entire family.
