Jesús Cervantes, 86, died August 7, 2012 of leukemia at his home in the presence of his loving family in Camarillo, CA.
He was born February 10, 1926 in Durango, Mex. Son of Sotero and María de Jesús Cervantes, youngest of 11 brothers and sisters, Jesús came to the US in 1954 and settled in Oxnard. He met and married his wife of 55 years Amelia. They lived in Somis where he worked as a ranch foreman on a lemon/avocado ranch until his retirement and move to Camarillo. Jesús lived a noble and honorable life dedicated to his immediate family and large extended family and friends. He was a mighty man who lived life with gusto, respect, and passion. Everyone around him “came along for the ride”. And, it was a great ride that always left a lasting impression and vivid memory. Family and friends were for life and he never let you forget that. But, he was happiest when he was with his immediate family celebrating life’s many gifts with a great meal and a shot of tequila.
He is survived by his loving wife Amelia, children Jesús, Manuel, Art, and Rosa Amelia, daughters-in-law Ana and Maria, and granddaughters Jaqueline, Gabriela, and Daniella. He leaves having known the pleasure of a large, close-knit, extended family in the US and Mexico, as well as many close friends.
