Jerry Wayne Becham

d. April 11, 2013

Beloved husband, father and grandfather (Poppa). Born In Mulberry, Ark., to Shelley and Lola Beckham. Survived by his beloved wife, Eva; brother, Don Beckham (Ann); sister, Mary Hornbeck; children: Tom Becham (Kim), Trinity Cho (Don), Valerie Kuhaida (Kevin); stepdaughters, Sheran Becker (Jeff) and Mary McKenna (Bill); grandchildren: Annalie and Thomas Cho, Ethan McNeely, Delilah Pollard, Kylie Kuhaida, McCoy, Hutton, and Georgie Becker, Tommy and Bailey McKenna; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David. Jerry's family moved from Mulberry, Ark., to Oxnard, Calif., when Jerry was three months old. He attended local Oxnard schools and graduated from Oxnard High School in 1958. He joined the U.S. Army after graduation, and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sgt. after nine years of service and was a member of the Reserve for eight years. He was a member of The American Legion Post 48 in Oxnard. Jerry began his career as a long-haul truck driver in 1968, driving for over forty years, crossing the U.S. and Canada. Eva and their dog Wendy joined him on many cross country trips, very happy to be with Jerry and seeing the sights from his perspective. When Jerry and Eva met in May of 1990, within 1/2 hour of meeting, Jerry told Eva they would be getting married in two weeks. Eva thought he was crazy, but they were married two months later and had almost 23 years to love and honor one another. Jerry was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. We will carry his memory in our hearts forever. Sweetie, I will love you forever and a day. The family wants to thank the staff at Pleasant Valley Hospital's Sub-Acute Unit for their loving care over the past five months. They also want to thank the ICU staff for their care for the past three weeks and special thanks to all of Jerry's doctors over the past seven months. Jerry's wishes were that no service be held. Donations in Jerry's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Camarillo Animal Shelter. Assisting the family with funeral arrangements is the Perez Family Funeral Home located in Camarillo. Please visit Jerry's online memorial at www.camarillomortuary.com.
