Jean Marie McMurtry

She passed away peacefully in her home with family surrounding her from a long term illness. She was 74 years old. She was Blessed to have her family by her side daily through her illness. In the past few months since January, it has been the most Blessed time and the most difficult time for Jean and her children. Our Lord was pleased to Bless this world with the birth of Jean Marie Sweeney on February 22, 1936. She was the 11th child born to Jerimiah and Gracie Sweeney. Born into an Irish Catholic Family. Jean was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Jean had 7 children, Linda, Michael, Dennis, Catherine, Donald, Rick, and Kerrie. Jean has 15 Grandchildren, John, Andrew, Jennifer, Christina, Jacquelyne, Bryttney, Donny, Isabella, Daniel, Serene, Sarah, Luke, Katelyn, Lauren, Trevor, & Damien. Jean also has 11 Great Grandchildren, Quinten, Sidney, Michael, Gabrielle, Dustin, Syrus, Mckenzie, Liam, Greyson, & Bailey. Jean also had been a wonderful Mother in Law to John, Kim, Patrick, Tom, Honey, Richelle & Deborah. She was a loving Mother, Mother in Law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend to many. Jean’s most important and precious role in her life was being a loving Mother and Grandmother to all of her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Everyone who knew her would describe her as a kind, caring, devoted individual. She always had a smile on her face. She would constantly help and assist others in need. Jean was constantly putting other peoples needs before her own. She was always there to lend a helping hand. Jean was a definite people person, she always had a smile to share with her customers or a smile for her friends and family. She loved being around people and was loved by many. Jean had been a resident of the Ventura County area for the past 29 years. She worked at Hughes markets for nearly 15 years. She also worked at Costco for several years. Jean had been retired for the past 7 years. Jean will be missed by many. She touched a lot of lives with her beautiful blue eyes, her sweet smile , her big heart and her caring ways . Our lives will not be the same without her. We Love you Mom, sleep with the Angels and rest in peace. You are home now. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Jean McMurtry.
