Life Reflections
James Anthony Sellers, lovingly known as “The Mayor,” resided in Oxnard, California. He departed this life on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the age of forty five.
James was born on November 12, 1973 in Paterson, New Jersey and was the son of James and Catherine Sellers.
At the time of his passing, he was employed as a Program Manager for the U.S. Department of Defense at Port Mugu Naval Air Station.
James loved spending time with his friends, family, and especially his dogs, Buddy and Max. He enjoyed music, video games and comic books.
James attended Hampton University on a full academic scholarship and sang in the Chosen Sounds gospel choir. In 1996, he graduated with honors and earned a B.S in Mathematics. Shortly after, James began working for Northrop Grumman where he dedicated 20 years of service as software engineer. During his tenure, James received numerous recognitions and awards for his contributions to the Northrop Grumman team.
James leaves behind to cherish his wonderful memories, his mother, Catherine Sellers; father James Sellers; four sisters: Adrienne Sellers-Brown (Carey); Lesley Ferguson, Kimaada Sellers; Ayanna Bristow (Bradford), three brothers: Thomas C. Pearson; Edward Ross; Dwayne Sellers; nieces: Brittney Seegers; Nateya Harris; Christine Howard; Jayla Pearson; Aurora Pearson; Aniyah Pearson; nephews: Malachi Pearson; Aidan Sellers; Jarell Ross and a host of aunts and dear friends.
A Loving Son, Brother, Uncle and Cousin in Heaven As the sun sets upon this life and your body is laid to rest I know you’ll be up in Heaven because God only takes the best. I know you’re watching over me and it takes away the pain I will carry you in my heart until we meet again. My world is a little darker now that we’re apart But the memories are shining brightly within this broken heart. You touched the lives of those you loved and we wanted you to stay But you were needed up in Heaven and God whispered “Come this way.” I know whenever I’m lonely and this smile becomes a frown I’ll look up to the sky above and they’ll be an Angel looking down.
