Jim Peters fell asleep on Friday March 20, 2015 in Camarillo, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Nita, and his brother Dean. He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Kim and Mark Peters, Debbie (David) Knight; stepdaughters, Dana (Clay) Taylor and Melissa Hunter; grandson, Noah; and step grandchildren, Kaylon, Kai, Elle and Giana. Jim was born on March 9, 1939 in San Francisco, CA to Greek immigrants. Subsequent to his father’s passing in 1954, Jim, along with his mother and brother, relocated to the Los Angeles area from Burlingame, CA. Following Jim’s graduation from Hollywood Professional School, and while simultaneously beginning his career in the theatre industry, he began his service in the United States Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1965. Jim had a passion for history; he earned a bachelor’s degree in his beloved discipline from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 1976. I n 1965, Jim married Donna Kelley and had three children. He married Linda Hunter in 1996. During the 1960s and 1970s, Jim had an exciting career as a Theatre Manager at such prestigious Los Angeles venues as the Egyptian Theater, Fine Arts Theater and the Plitt Theater Century City. In 1981, he relocated to Ventura County, where he enjoyed a successful and rewarding career in the insurance/financial services industry. Jim was a dedicated member of the St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Santa Barbara, CA, where he served as a Parish Council member, Treasurer and President. He was a devoted son, loyal brother, and loving husband, father and grandfather. He embodied the virtue of benevolence and was gentle and kind to everyone. He made friends wherever he went; he will truly be missed. Services for Jim will be held at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church; 1205 San Antonio Creek Rd., Santa Barbara, CA. The visitation and prayer service will begin at 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 31st, the funeral service is at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 1st, and the burial ceremony will also be on April 1st at 3:00pm at the Conjeo Mountain Memorial Park; 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo, CA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers; please make a donation to the St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church Capital Campaign in Santa Barbara, CA or the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund in Camarillo, CA in Jim’s memory.
