At age 77, our mother passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Sunday, June 3, 2012. She was preceded into heaven by her husband, George Allen Driver and daughter in-law, Diane Driver. She is survived by her sisters: Eiko and Natalia Rekemesik, and sister in-law Ann Farler Hunt, five children: Webb Driver (Kirsten), Susan Brannon (Allen), Holli Frew (Bill), Debbie Evans (Joe), Barry Driver (Diane), twelve grand kids, and fourteen great grand kids. She was born in Peleliu State, of The Republic of Palau and was raised on the islands of Peleliu and Koror. As a young adult she moved to Saipan Island, of the Northern Mariana Islands, where she met and married the love of her life, George Driver. George’s Navy career brought them to Guam, then to Naval Construction Battalion Center Port Hueneme Base and Oxnard where they raised their family and made lifelong friendships. She was a resident of Ventura County 52 years. She was a member of the CPO Wives Club, Elks Lodge #1443, The Ladies of Unit 120 of the Fleet Reserve Association, and Sowak Belau Club of Southern California. She enjoyed competition and played on softball leagues, bowling leagues, and golfing leagues. She loved playing Yahtzee, Pinochle, Hanafuda (a Japanese card game) and slots at any casino. She enjoyed crafts and cake decorating; making many wedding, birthday, and retirement cakes for friends and family. Of all these things, what she enjoyed most was the relationships she made; from family and friends, to the stranger soon to be her friend. She possessed the gifts of Hospitality and Service gave it away freely to one and all. If you were fortune enough to know our Mom you know what this means.
