On November 9, 2023, surrounded by her family, Inez Morua peacefully entered into eternal rest with the Lord and was finally reunited with her beloved husband.
Inez was born Marie Antoinette Montoya on April 2, 1938 to Maximilliano and Aurelia Montoya in Gibson, NM. She was the 5th of 7 children - and a twin. In 1945, at the age of 7, she and her family moved west from Gallup, NM to Los Angeles, CA. Even after settling in California, Inez still enjoyed going back to New Mexico to spend time with her grandmother, with whom she shared a special bond. In fact, it was her grandmother who gave her the name “Inez Marie” at her baptism. Eventually, Inez’s father would find work a little further north, where he and 6 of his children finally settled in El Rio.
It was here, in Ventura County, where Inez would meet and marry the love of her life, Arthur Morua. They were married on November 27, 1954. In their 48 years of marriage, Inez & Arthur were blessed with 6 children which lead to the legacy of grandchildren that live on today.
Inez was a homemaker who enjoyed visiting with family, spending time with her grandchildren, and helping others. She would often head down Orchard St to help her in-laws around the house as they became older and less able. Inez showed her love through acts of service and giving whatever she could to meet a need. One of her favorite things to do was caring for her grandkids - in fact, there was rarely a time that there wasn’t 1 or 2 running around on any given day. Her friendship, faith & love knew no bounds.
Inez was a tiny, but mighty woman of faith. Her belief in God was unwavering. She was a prayer warrior & a worshiper. If it’s one thing she knew how to do, it was to praise through a problem. And, that was something she passed down her family tree. There was nothing too big or too small to bring to God through prayer & petition. And, throughout her life, Inez was a living testimony to that. She was not only valued in her biological family, but in her church family as well.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur “Turi” Morua; daughter, Dolly Provencio; parents, Maximilliano Montoya Sr. & Aurelia Lopez; brothers, Max Montoya, Anthony Montoya & Edward Montoya; sisters, Josefina Montoya-Wright & Florence Montoya-Contonerro; nephews, David Morua Jr & Rudy Morua Jr; nieces, Susan Morua, Debbie Montoya, Kathy Montoya & Susie Ramirez; and, great-grandchildren, Layla Rivera & Ezekiel Torres.
Inez is survived by her sister, MaryLou Garcia (Danny), her children - daughter, Teresa Torres (Richard); daughter, Sydney (Cindy) Morua (Carl); daughter, Mary Lou Diermier (Richard); son, Arthur Morua Jr. (Maria); and daughter, Alice Morua (Isaac); 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
The Morua Family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to The Well Foursquare Church in Santa Paula, Pastor John, and his wife, Claudia, for their non-stop prayers and love for Inez.
We would also like to thank the caring medical staff at St. John’s Pleasant Valley for their compassion during this difficult time.
