On September 26th 2009 our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side after a brief battle with cancer. Nana was born in Los Angeles, California and was the third of four children born to Joseph and Aurora Flores. She married the love of her life Seferino Navarro Torres and started a family in Pacoima, Ca. After his death in 1964 she continued raising their five children in Oxnard, creating memories that will last a lifetime. She retired from Heublein Inc. (aka Chileria) after working there for 15 years. Nana will be remembered for her continual service to her family and showing her love by contributing at every opportunity. We will always remember how she took care of us. She was held in high regard by all whose lives she touched.
Hortensia was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Seferino N. Torres, her brothers Joseph, Rudy, and Russell, grandson Aaron J. Arevalo, and great granddaughter Brianna Mendoza.
Hortensia was a loving and wonderful mother to her five children Diane (Tony), JoAnn (Xavier), Sharon (Peter), Loretta (David), and Eugene. Nana also had 15 grandchildren: Melissa, Danielle, Orlando, Eric, Roberta, Shoshana, Johanna, Peter, Emiliano, Syreeta, Gianina, Aaron, Lawrence, Michelangelo, Dominique, and 23 great grandchildren. She is survived by her only sister and best friend Carrie Botello.
Nana, your love for us will be forever in our hearts. Thank you for everything you have done for us. We will always love you.
