Gregory Brian Spink

Gregory Brian Spink was born in Camarillo at Pleasant Valley Hospital on October 29, 1975. He lived almost his whole life here in Ventura County, attending Las Posas Elementary, Monte Vista Junior High, Rio Mesa High School, and Ventura College. He died tragically on May 1st, joining his son Dylan in Heaven. Since Greg was very small, he always excelled in any sport he would take on- from AYSO soccer to his love of baseball. He seemed to always make the all-stars on every team he was on. He was a talented pitcher, and eventually was MVP at Rio Mesa and LA Times Ventura County Athlete of the Year. Greg had a kind and generous heart. He would take the shirt off his back to help a stranger. He loved his music, playing drums, the ocean, cooking, and watching movies. His charismatic and sarcastic sense of humor will always be with us, but his heart never healed after losing his son Dylan just 8 short months ago. He loved Dylan with all of his heart and soul, and now they are reunited in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his sweet son Dylan, grandma Edna Lonegan, granddad Robert Spink, and his Aunt Donna Lonegan. He is survived by his loving and heartbroken family: His parents Pete and Pat Spink, his sister Katie (Brandon) Stuart, and his brother Kevin (Lauren) Spink; grandmother Rosemary Spink; aunts and uncles: Mike (Cathy) Lonegan, Tom Lonegan, Mike (Carol) Spink, Dale (Sharon) Spink, Randy (Connie) Spink; his three nieces: Emily and Elizabeth Spink, and Brooklyn Stuart; many cousins throughout the country; Frank and Lydia Macias and family, and Yvonne Spink. His family would like to especially thank the Khepera House in Ventura for trying relentlessly to help Greg during some of his most difficult and darkest days. We will be forever grateful to them for giving Greg back to us, even if only for a short time. A memorial service will be held at Perez Family Funeral Home in Camarillo at 1347 Del Norte Road on Thursday, May 7th at 4:30.
