Gloria E. Kincaid 79, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Gloria was born on January 27, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri to Earl and Pauline Carlyle. She met and married the man of her dreams, George Edward Kincaid on July 27, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Gloria was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and as the eldest child, she was the one that continually looked after her younger brothers and sisters. After her marriage to George, who was in the U.S. Navy, she and her young and growing family lived in various locations throughout the United States and Guam. She lived in West Palm Beach, Florida; Memphis Tennessee; and Guam, before settling in Oxnard, California.
It was in Oxnard that George began his Masonry Business after being Honorably discharged from the U.S.Navy. Gloria helped George run the business that they owned for over thirty years. During that time both George and Gloria were active members in the CCMCA (California Conference of Masonry Contractors Association).
Both George and Gloria were very active in the Catholic Church and continually supported Santa Clara High School by actively participating in the annual Santa Clara Fiestas and being part of the Santa Clara Booster Club. They were regular attendees of the Santa Clara Football , Baseball and Basketball games. Both George and Gloria would also travel to watch and support all their kids and grand kids activities and could be seen at recitals, Little League Fields and at various Swimming Pools thoughout the County watching the endless swim meets.
The Holidays were always big events at the Kincaid home and no one could cook as good as Gloria. Thanksgiving was THE event of the year with lots of turkey with all the fixings and of course all the desserts you could want. Then there was Christmas Eve at the Kincaids-another time to enjoy great food and great company. George and Gloria started off buying presents for all the kids, their husbands and the grand kids, then as the families grew even bigger, they bought gifts for the grand kids and the great grand kids. It was amazing to see the joy on their faces as each child opened their gifts every Christmas.
George and Gloria loved to travel and they took many trips in their motorhome all over the United States visiting many of their friends and family and seeing so much of this beautiful Nation. They also took many Cruises to faraway places and had great times and wonderful memories. They also made several trips to Hawaii, several times taking family members to share in the experience. Of course they also loved going to Las Vegas, where George would play Keno and Gloria would play Blackjack, even playing in several of the big Blackjack tournaments. Las Vegas was a very special place for them and they shared many fond memories there, including a trip that Gloria made there just after George had passed away. While there with family she played Daddy's Keno numbers and she won over three-thousand dollars, a true sign that George was still with her and looking after her.
They made friends where ever they went and truly enjoyed life.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband George Edward, her son George Anthony, her daughter Linda Marie, her parents Earl and Pauline Carlyle, brothers Bobby, Buddy, Earl and Sister Paula.
Gloria is survived by her sister Coletta Caves of Sacramento, CA, sons Phillip of Sacramento, CA Michael, wife Joanne of Prescott, Arizona; and Thomas, wife Stephanie of Prescott, Arizona; daughters Connie (Beck), husband Jerry of Oxnard, CA; Susan (Meisner) of Colorado and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gloria will be missed by her family and friends, but all of us know that her passing was the greatest gift any of us could have wished for, because we are comforted in knowing that she is no longer in pain and she is reunited with her soul mate and her other family and friends.
We love you Glo Glo!
