George Jeffrey Stratas, known as Jeff, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 25, 2024. He was born in Wheeling West Virginia, and lived in Martins Ferry, Ohio originally. His parents moved the family to Oxnard, California when he was only 2 years old and he had remained there ever since. Jeff was the oldest of five children.
His life reflected his love for music. It was everything to him. He was a fantastic trumpet player in band and orchestra during his high school years, playing a solo at one of the concerts. After High School, he toured England with the Kids Next Door Christian musical group playing his trumpet. And later on, he learned the keyboard, composed and recorded his own music on CD’s, and helped out with the sound systems at concerts for several famous stars. His second love was for computers which went hand in hand with his music. He was considered a computer geek, helping many people with their computers from the inception of home computers. Jeff’s disposition was a happy one, always having a good joke to share with everyone.
He obtained employment as a data analyst, working at Point Mugu. He was extremely good and enjoyed what he did. He did work long hours and worked there until he retired with over 42 years of service.
He is survived by his mother, Flora Bea Stratas, his three sisters and their spouses; Lynette and George Clyde, Jerene and Steve Slivinsky, and Kristine Stratas and his brother Michael Stratas. He has numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George Stratas.
