After a long and sad battle with Alzheimer’s, GENOVEVA “BEVA” TAMEZ ALMARAZ, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, godmother, aunt and friend passed away on May 15, 2017, with her loving family by her side. Genoveva “Beva” as she was known to all her family and friends, was born on October 16, 1924, in the small town of Mercedes, Texas. She grew up in the Mercedes/Weslaco, Texas area and at the age of 15, she married the love of her life, Guillermo “Willie” Almaraz. They were blessed with five children, Emma (Ray) Navarro, Adela Cavazos, Bill (Chris) Almaraz, Danny (Annie) Almaraz and Tammy (Robert) Tripp; 21 grandchildren, Ray, Patricia, Leo, Steve, David, Anne Marie, Matt, Monica, Teresa, Barbara, Melissa, Audrey, Adelita, Dago, Channell, Candace, Chaylene, Charmaine, K.D., Tawnia & C.J.; 23 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Bianca, Marissa, Zachary, Sidney, Justin, Cameron, Brett, Trevor, Braelyn, Michael, Simon, Isabella, Illiana, Anthony, Patrick, Liam, Piper, Thomas, Nicholas, Emma, Samantha, Sabrina, William, and Moises and one great-great granddaughter, Wren. Beva worked at Bob Jones Ranch for over 25 years, along-side her husband. She was loved and respected by everyone she came in contact with and if you were lucky enough to know her, you knew you had a friend for life. Beva’s favorite past-time was tending to her beautiful and numerous rose bushes, Bingo and traveling to Las Vegas. She was a very lucky woman, but most of all, we were extremely lucky and blessed to have her in our lives. Beva leaves behind her husband Willie, whom she shared an amazing 77 years of marriage with as well as her loving family. The family would like to thank Dr. Victor Alcocer and his staff at Spanish Hills Medical Group as well as Katherine Mission for the hospice care provided. But most of all, we’d like to thank her neighbors, Ray and Debbie Ulmer and Janet Carlson, daughter Janet and Mike for always keeping an eye out for Mom and being the best neighbors. We are so appreciative for your friendship and support.
