Gene Lepore, 62, Camarillo, passed Sunday, May 9, 2010 at his home with his loved ones by his side after a battle with Mesothelioma.
He was born May 18, 1947 in West Pittston, PA, son of the late Gene and Irene Lepore.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Geri; daughter Kristy Reinholz and son-in-law Jeremy; son Michael; sisters Debbie Kadamian and Carol Ravert; numerous family members.
Gene was born and raised in a small, coal mining town in Northeastern PA. He received a full basketball scholarship to Loyola Marymount in 1965. After completion of his degree he relocated to Ventura County to take a coaching position at Saint Bonaventure High School. From there, he moved on to a 28 year career with the Department of Navy where he met his wife.
Gene was a family oriented man who opened his heart and home to many. He never forgot were he came from, remembered his roots and always saw the value in every person he came in contact with. He was a man of integrity and honesty.
He enjoyed the simple things in life, friendly conversations, watching his Yankees, “mediocre” golf, Sunday basketball with his buddies, movies with his wife, poker with his pals, and his newspaper.
He was always able to find the humor in life due to his optimistic nature. He was an excellent role model as a coach, teacher, mentor, husband and most of all, father. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his family.
“We will miss you pop and we will always leave an ice cold Pepsi and Hershey bar in the fridge for you.”
