Gary Roger Russell

Gary Roger Russell passed away peacefully in his Moorpark, California home on December 1, 2017, after a long courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 67. Gary is survived by his wife, Cathy Russell (Lowe), Son Joshua, and his wife Brittney, Daughter Katie and her husband Genaro, Daughter Holly and Son Gary Jr and his partner Judia Gallant. His grandchildren, Kylee, Gianna, Jacob, Camden, Nevaeh, Gio, Penny and Waylen, his mother and father in law Charles and Alice Lowe. His sister Thelma A Cummings, his brother George B Russell (and wife Joan) and Judith Leger (and husband Edward), many nieces and nephews; endless family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Willis E and Anna C Russell, his siblings Sonny, Herbert, Marion and Grace. Gary was born on October 18, 1950 in Clinton, Massachusetts. He graduated from Leominster High School and was talented stone mason both in the Massachusetts and throughout Ventura County, CA. He loved the outdoors and fishing was his passion, hence the “Going Fishing with Gary” Facebook page that has been shared since his diagnosis with cancer July of 2016 for family and friends to follow along his journey during his heroic battle with such a terrible disease. A celebration of life is scheduled Tuesday December 12, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Eden Gardens 3900 Brennan Road, Moorpark CA, 93021. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gary’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The American Cancer Society in Gary’s name. The family would like to thank the staff of Adventist Hospital Simi Valley, Dr. Bassam Ghanem and staff for their kind, compassionate and loving care. A special thank-you to Judy Leger, Vickie Lowe and Deanne Filerman for their tender loving care for Gary and their sleepless nights for the last final weeks of Gary’s life.
