Gary Hoelker

Gary was born April 26, 1936 to John and Elizabeth Hoelker in Anthan, IA. He attended Heelan High in Souix City, IA. After graduation in 1955 he joined the Air Force. In 1958 while stationed at Loring Air Force Base in Maine he met and married Verna his little Canadian nurse. After discharge Gary followed his brothers to California. They settled in Northridge. He worked for LA Unified School District as a Locksmith for 30 years. After retirement they moved to Moorpark. Both Gary and Verna were active at the Moorpark Senior Center. He volunteered as a driver for meals on wheels, attended numerous grandchildren's activities and loved camping with their RV Club. Gary is survived by his wife of 58 years, his children Helen Mary, Gail, John, Lisa, Katherine, their spouses and 13 grandchildren. Pops will be forever loved and dearly missed. He will remembered for his big blue eyes and smile. A visitation for Gary will be held on Tuesday, March 15th from 5-9pm, located at the Perez Family Funeral Home in Moorpark, 887 Patriot Drive, Moorpark. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Moorpark at 10am on Wednesday, March 16th. Reception will follow.
