The Lord, our Holy Father, invited Felix N. Nieves to his kingdom, Heaven. Felix, 57, accepted the invitation on April 11, 2013 at 1:47am. He was blessed with being pain free, welcomed and reunited with relatives and friends who preceded him in death. Felix was born in Oxnard on May 2, 1955 to Angelina Nares and Rafael Alvira Nieves (Deceased). He was the second child and oldest son of seven children. He was a lifelong resident of Ventura County. He loved living near the beach.
Felix enjoyed refinishing furniture, remodeling rooms, art and crafts, gardening and music. He was a very loving and helpful person. Family was the most important thing in his life. We will miss him and will remember all the loving and helpful things he did throughout his life.
Felix is survived by his mother, Angelina Flores; dad, Everardo Flores; sisters, Inez Nieves; Elizabeth (Robert) Freitas; Irma Nieves; Julia (Charles) Klein; Gloria (Mario) Reyes; Julia Rochester; brothers, Rafael Nieves; and David Nieves. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rafael; brother, Raymond; grandparents both maternal and paternal, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We greatly appreciate and are grateful for all the help and support given to our family by the Vitas Hospice staff: Nurse Sharry Ball; Social worker Carolyn Bigg; CNA Ruben Fernandez; Nurse Liza McHale; Chaplin Jay; Nurse/Team manager Tina Eiseman; Dr. Adam Sherman; and the Intensive Comfort Care team. Felix was also blessed for many years with friendship and support from Nurse Margaret Friis; Dr. John Prichard; Dr. Jeffery King, at Ventura County Medical Clinic and Social worker Kathy Zwers.
Felix’s truly wonderful, loving and caring nieces, Alejandra Garcia and Olivia Amparan helped make his final days comfortable at home.
