Ernest L. Dettorre ("Ernie") was born September 21, 1927 in Steubenville, OH to Anthony Dettorre and Maria Dettorre (nee Mattioli). He attended elementary, middle school, and high school in Steubenville and subsequently enlisted in the United States Navy in the summer of 1945. He served in World War II and the Korean War as an aviation electrician and was honorably discharged at the rank Petty Officer 3rd Class. In 1952, he married Carolyn Cisario and they were married for 41 years until the time of her death. In 1954, they moved to Reseda, California where he resided for 67 years. They had four sons, Rich (Los Angeles, CA), Scott and wife, Sue (Moorpark, CA), John and wife, Lisa (Victorville, CA) and Michael (Boise, ID). In 1995, Ernie married Myrna Delany who he enjoyed the last 26 years with.
Ernie spent the bulk of his professional career with 30 plus years of service with Pacific Telephone of the Bell System.
Ernie was a friend to all he met. His pride and joy were his family including watching his boys’ sports activities and University of Norte Dame and Reseda High School football.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Myrna – her family of 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; and his 4 sons and their families including 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
