She was pre deceased by her husband Salvador Salinas, parents Rosa and Eduardo Flores, son, Arthur Salinas, granddaughter, Lorraine Salinas, brothers, Edward Flores, Carlos Flores, Robert Flores and sister, Josephine Cabrera. Elvira and Salvador were married on July 19, 1952 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Oxnard, CA. Their union produced five loving children, fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Left to mourn her loss are children, Daniel (Saranel) Salinas, Arthur Salinas (deceased), Cecilia Salinas Chavez (Robert), Edward Salinas (Nancy), Elizabeth Salinas (Jose Negrete); grandchildren Arthur II, Josh, Jordan, Natalie, Robert III, Salvador, Eric, Monica, Gabby, Yvonne, Cindy, Jose Jr. and Ulises, great grandchildren, Michael, Danielle, Jessica, Christian, Samantha, Arthur III and Benjamin, great great grandchild, Sienna, sisters Carmen Hernandez (Val) Candy Rivera (Lupe), sister in law, Janice Flores, and many nephews and nieces.
Elvira was employed by the John and Joseph Friedrich families for over fifty years. She carried many happy memories of the ranch and the family with whom she shared a special bond, especially Joseph Brian Friedrich.
In addition to a devoted wife and mother, Elvira was very close to her sisters, Carmen Hernandez, Josie Cabrera and Candy Rivera. Elvira and her siblings spent their early years attending local schools. They enjoyed movies and dances under the watchful eye of their oldest brother, Edward (Lalo). Elvira’s mother passed away when she was nine years of age. Being the oldest of the girls, Elvira took on the responsibility of caring for her father and younger siblings. She knew the meaning of hard work and passed that on to her children whom she loved and took great pride in their work ethic and accomplishments as adults.
She took delight in the holidays and baked a variety of goodies. Her first cookbook was given to her on her eighteenth birthday by her oldest brother. Her home was immaculate and festive with her collection of dolls and Christmas décor. She enjoyed gardening and visits from her sister, Carmen. For many years, Elvira and Salvador’s home was the gathering place for Thanksgiving dinner.
Elvira was a faithful Catholic who prayed daily. She left this life having accomplished those things most important, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a friend, loyal sister, and role model to her many nieces and nephews. Our heavenly Father has surely welcomed His faithful daughter!
