ELVIRA “BELA” GRAJEDA

PORT HUENEME, CA

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful wife, mother and grandmother Elvira “Bela” Grajeda who entered into Heaven on January 3, 2019. She was born on March 6, 1935 to Luis and Natalia Moreno in Oxnard, CA.  She was one of eight children.

She was our “Norma Rae”.  She was a factory worker for Heublein, Nabisco, and La Chileria where she fought for women’s rights.  She was so proud to be the first woman to cross over the line to do a “Man’s Job”.  She was a hard and dedicated employee who started working at a young age to help support her family. She even switched to the nightshift when her grandsons were young so she would be able to watch them during the day.

We will always remember her beautiful smile, wisdom, warm open heart and loving arms, her strength and need to help others.  She always found the good in all and never passed judgment.  She was a kind, caring, generous woman who always opened her home and pool to everyone. She was also sassy, feisty, and always spoke her mind but never led you in the wrong direction.  She was a mother, grandmother, and aunt not only to our family but to many.  She was a true matriarch. She enjoyed cooking, having family get togethers, dancing, music, the beach, traveling and visiting the casinos. Mom left her mark on all of those she touched. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family more than words can ever express.

Her greatest passion was her family who she leaves behind. She was survived by her husband of 65 years who she loved with all her heart Frank Grajeda Jr., daughters Sandra (Joseph) Brown, Francine Stuart, grandsons Ryan (Rosie) Moya, Alex Brown, Brandon (Katie) Stuart, and Blake Stuart, great granddaughters Abigail and Ava Moya and Brooklyn and Reese Stuart, son-in-law Anthony (Ebelia) Moya, sisters Sally Varela and Tillie Cobos, brother-in-law George (Rosie) Grajeda, sisters-in-law Bernice Merrill and Linda Alford, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the kind and loving care our mother received from Assisted Care.  A special thanks to Drs. William and Lisa Rajala, Alma, Sarah, Michelle, Josie, and Daniel along with caregivers Lupe, Teresa, and the Sisters of Mercy.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 17th, 2019 at Perez Family Funeral Home in Camarillo.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, Jan 18th, 2019 at Santa Clara Church, 323 “E” Street, Oxnard, CA.
