Eldon Charles Dickinson, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 29, 2012, from respiratory failure following hip surgery (largely related to his Inclusion Body Myositis disease).
Eldon was born March 2, 1938, in Loma Linda, Calif., to Charles and Myrtice Dickinson. He attended Loma Linda Elementary School and academy, graduating in June 1957. After his pre-dental education at La Sierra University in Riverside, he then graduated in 1964 with a degree in Dentistry from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Moving to Ventura County he established his dental practice in Port Hueneme where he retired from full-time practice in early 2005. He continued to do dentistry one day a week at the County Jail facilities until 2010. Some of Eldon's other interests beside his dental patients were his love for his family, his Lord, flying, singing, gardening, travel and sports. Other joys included mission work, his activities with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Navy League, QB's, the Santa Barbara-Ventura County Dental Society, LLU Alumni Association and NASDAD. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Darlene; daughter, Tami (David) Mitchell; son, Chip (Lisa) Dickinson; grandsons, Cory and Cameron Mitchell, and Logan and Brett Dickinson.
A Celebration of Life was held on January 4, 2013.
An educational scholarship memorial fund was established. If you wish to send a donation in his honor, it may be sent to Newbury Park Adventist Academy, 180 Academy Drive, Newbury Park, Calif., 91320. Checks should be made out to NPAA and marked as "Papa Dickinson Memorial Fund".
