Edythe Lorraine Qualls took her final rest in the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 after a long and courageous fight with cancer.
The oldest of five children, of the union of David and Frances McLucas, Edythe Lorraine McLucas was born October 31, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas. The family moved to Oxnard in 1945 for greater employment opportunities. Edie, as she preferred to be called by her closest relatives and friends attended Ramona elementary school, Woodrow Wilson Middle School, Graduated from Oxnard High School in 1962 continuing on to Ventura College, where she received her Associates Arts degree in 1964.
In 1968 Lorraine married the love of her life Herman F. Qualls who preceded her in death in 1995. Lorraine embarked on a career, as a computer specialist at Point Mugu Naval Air Station (NAVSOC), where she worked for 30 years. Among her colleagues Lorraine was respected and admired for her work ethic, values and Christian character.
Lorraine was an avid collector of family history. She created many books of family memorabilia, which she would then share with everyone. Lorraine was a member of the Channel Islands Community Church of God in Christ, (formally known as Tried Stone COGIC), under the leadership of Superintendent E.L. White.
She leaves to mourn in her passing two precious children Maurice S. Qualls and Michele L. Qualls-Trejo (Tobias M. Trejo) along with her loving mother, Mrs. Frances McLucas, her two brothers David McLucas Jr. (Sharon McLucas), James McLucas (Karen McLucas); three sisters Darlene McLucas Ballard; Diane Moore (David Moore) and Saundra Middleton (Eric Middleton). Six grandchildren: Jerrell Qualls, Jeremiah Butler, Johnathon Butler, Toviya Trejo, Destinee L. Qualls, and Cicily Trejo. Lorraine has an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles who will greatly miss her. Lorraine will be remembered for her elegance, grace and her love for Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held Thursday May 3, 2012 from 4 to 8pm at the Perez Family Funeral Home, 1347 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, California. Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 am, Friday May 4, 2012 at Saint Paul’s Baptist Church, 1777 Statham Blvd. Oxnard, California 93033
