DuLue D. Pollard went to be with his Lord on March 29, 2007. He was 83. He had battled cancer for the past year. He spent his last days at his Newbury Park home surrounded by family, friends and with the help of hospice.
Dick was born June 3, 1923, in Lafayette, Ind., and moved to California in 1950. In 1966 he moved his family from Pomona, Calif., to Ventura County, where he and his family have resided for 41 years.
Dick enjoyed his home, traveling, square dancing, camping, and swimming, woodworking and when he could, he loved watching his grandsons play baseball and soccer. He was an avid sports fan.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Lois; sons, Robert Johnson, Paul Johnson and Daryl Pollard; daughters-in-law, Dierdre Johnson, Nina Johnson and Janet Pollard; and grandchildren, Thomas Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Stephen Johnson and Nichole Pollard.
Dick worked in the retail clerk industry for 24 years and worked as a cabinetmaker for 15 years. He was considered a master in woodworking.
His family and friends will deeply miss his great sense of humor, determination, and his general way of life.
A memorial will be held in Dick's honor at their home from 1 to 4 p.m. May 5. Please come join us.
