Dorothy Basquez

Dorothy Basquez, our beloved mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend left us peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 22, 2018. Dorothy Basquez was born on January 13, 1930, in Ventura and raised and spent most of her life in Ventura County. Dorothy was a very kind-hearted, loving woman who adored her family. She devoted her life to being a mother and grandmother. She had compassion for others and didn’t hesitate to help others in need. Most of her life was spent being a homemaker. She did venture out to work at the El Rio School District as a teacher’s aide for about 10 years. She loved being around children. Dorothy also enjoyed working in her garden growing her flowers. A big interest of hers was also the joy of dancing, which she routinely did for many years. Dorothy is survived by her children; Richard Valles, Carmelita Valles, Venida Ordonez, Maria Davis, Roberta Surgenor, Patricia Benk, Guadalupe Flesher, Rafael Flesher, Shea Freeman. Dorothy’s sibling’s; Ray Varela, Virginia Villa, Irene Mendoza, Tillie Magdeleno, Nelson Varela, Arthur Varela, Iris Radakovick, and Edmond Varela. Dorothy also has 45 grandchildren and 36 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by: mother Rosario Varela, father Enrique Varela; children: Manuel Valles, Avelardo Valles, William Flesher, June Flesher; siblings: Lillian Cruz, Alice Estrada, Hank Varela, Alfred Varela, Richard Varela, and Avelardo Varela. The family wishes to thank the Shoreline Care Center and staff members who cared for our beloved mother. We want to acknowledge the dedication and hard work that at times goes unnoticed in their profession. Thank you Memorial will begin at 10:30 a.m. with visitation and a service followed by a reception on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Perez Family Funeral Home, located at 1347 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, CA 93010. The burial will follow the reception at Ivy Lawn Cemetery, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura, CA 93003
