Donald D. Martin, 75, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Sunday,January 24, 2010 at his home in Camarillo, California.
At his request, the family will hold a private “Celebration of Life” ceremony.
Mr. Martin was born April 27, 1934 in Stephenville, Texas to Lambert and Lora Phillips Martin. He married Femmy M. Martin on May 1, 1985 in Texas and moved to California July, 1996.
Don, as most everyone referred to him, was raised in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1952. He attended Texas Wesleyan College and Arlington State University and then served in the United States Air Force, during the Korean War as a radar operator. Don retired in 1996 as Quality Assurance Manager for Lockheed Martin, after serving 37 years with the company.
He loved music and loved to sing and dance. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyedsuch activities as fishing, boating, hunting, and gardening. History and travel were also among his life interests. He lived and traveled throughout the United States, Europe, and Korea and was famous for his grilled BBQ ribs!
He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife of 24 years, Femmy Martin of Camarillo, California; son, Robert Humphreys of Crowley, Texas; daughters, Dayna Smith and husband Larry of Joshua, Texas, Sonja Rivera and husband Phillip of Newbury Park, California; 4 grand children, Kara Smith, Kaleb Smith, Alex Rivera and Daniella Rivera; 1 brother, Richard Martin and wife Ray of Jacksonville,Florida, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
