Marie A. Richardson, 85, passed away January 26, 2012.
She was born April 28, 1926 in Quincy, Illinois to Albert and Elizabeth Schmitt.
Marie was raised in Quincy, IL. she graduated from St. Mary’s School and helped her mother, a widow, with her younger brothers and sister.
Marie learned to sew at an early age and went on to become a seamstress by trade. After her marriage to Edward Richardson, Marie moved to Chicago, IL. Where she had two children and later moved to California, where she spent the rest of her life. Marie had a passion for sewing and not only made it her career but also loved to sew for family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking, trying new recipes and collecting cook books. She liked to travel but was most happy when taking care of others; that seemed to give her the most joy in life.
Marie is survived by her brother; Floyd Schmitt of Quincy, IL. Her daughters; Denise Kassab and her husband Shamel of Belews Creek, NC; Julianne Richardson, of Simi Valley, CA, her beloved granddaughter, Amanda Kassab of Charleston, SC, her grandsons; Bassam Kassab and his wife Alison of Florence, SC and Samer Kassab of Los Angeles, CA. Two great-grandchildren; Aiden and Alexis Kassab of Florence, SC. Her nieces; Judy Emerick of Quincy, Il; Sandy Furlong and Debbie Bonds of CA. and nephew Gary Brassil of CA. Several great nieces, nephews and family friends Betty and Anthony Castro, Pamela Washington and Margie Pyorola of California. Everyone that met Marie loved her; she made friends wherever she went.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, George Brassil, William, Lloyd and Richard Schmitt, a sister, Helen Berblinger and her husband Edward Richardson
