Life Legacy
Benjamin Diego “Bubba” Hinojosa
Our fun-loving son, brother, friend left us on October 12, 2015 at 19 years old. He was born in Ventura, Ca on October 4, 1996. He lived in Oxnard, Santa Paula, and Ventura. But when asked he always said he was truly just from Santa Paula. He leaves behind his mother Stefanie, his father Ben, and his true best friend and sister Lexy. Grandparents Larry and Vilma Acosta and Lalo Hinojosa. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Geraldine Hinojosa. Cousins Mona, Richard (Lizeth), Andrew, Adam, Emma, Taylor, Franky, and Isa Acosta, also Jaclyn, Janette and Jacob Zaragoza, Ronnie (Christine), Mario, and Jessie Parra, and Joshua Nicaud. Aunts Becky and Sally Hinojosa and Uncles Richard (Marcy) and Frank (Debbie) Acosta.
He attended Holy Cross School from K-6 then one year at Santa Clara for 7th, then his final junior high year at Cabrillo. He spent 4 wonderful years at St. Bonaventura High School in Ventura, were he excelled in jokes, detention, pranks, and being an overall goofball. He also did well in football #42 for all four years with some track and field, and golf sprinkled in there.
He was a bright, vibrant, giving human being. Always willing to help complete strangers just because he didn’t want anyone to feel that no one cared. His love of music was one of his greatest passions. He recently took up guitar and self-taught himself to be quite the rock star, serenading anyone who would listen, (or even if they didn’t want to you still got a show). He also tried to learn the piano and the violin and anything that just made noise.
His true legacy and gift in life were his friends. When he wasn’t pretending he was Batman when he was little, he was in his secret hideaway “Fort Cheese” plotting world domination. Then football happened. It forever changed his life from his start with the SP Cardinals, to the Panthers, to the Super bowl Champions Buccaneers, then to the Bonaventure Seraphs. His football family was one of his biggest loves. His “LSK” family will forever be in our hearts. His other family the Zavala’s and the Capella’s truly loved him like their own. And his true brother Nick will forever be our son and brother, as there was no one closer to him.
A Rosary will be held for Diego on Sunday, October 18th at 6:00pm located at the Perez Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1347 Del Norte Road in Camarillo.
Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 19th at 11:00am located at the San Buena Ventura Mission in Ventura.
