Derald Ross Warner

d. August 4, 2010

Derald Ross Warner Santa Paula, California Our husband, father, grandpa, papa, uncle and friend passed away on August 4th, 2010 at his home in Santa Paula with family by his side. He made a difference in the lives he touched which is evident in the family who loved him. He was born on November 4, 1926 to Ross and Carolyn Warner residing in Columbus, Nebraska. He was the third of six children having three brothers and two sisters; in Derald’s last year of high school the family moved to Paramount, California to open a service station business. He graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach, California in 1944. On January 27, 1945 he joined the Army to serve his country and was honorably discharged on January 23, 1946 receiving a personal thank you letter from President Harry Truman for his service. Derald graduated from Compton College with his Associates Degree and continued working at the family business. In 1950 Derald married Lorraine Brown and they began their lives in Lakewood, California; they enjoyed 12 years of marriage before her passing and were blessed with four children, Pamala, Michael, Deralyn and Wendy. Derald’s career began at North America International in 1955 in Lakewood, California and continued his education in engineering. In 1957 he transferred to Atomics International in Canoga Park, California (which became Rockwell International in 1958). The family purchased their first home in San Fernando, California where many happy years were lived and memories made. In 1964 God provided Derald with a caring and loving woman and his best friend Alicia and they were soon married; they added two beautiful daughters to complete the family, Carolyn and Patricia and the special moments continued in their home in San Fernando. After 35 ½ years of service Derald retired from Rockwell International, they sold their home and moved to Palmdale, California. He loved fishing and teaching grandchildren how to fish, he spent many hours at Finn and Feather and Apollo Lakes; his fishing buddies used to tease that he had an advantage due to his hand shaking which taunted the fish to take his hook versus theirs. He loved country music and loved to dance and when the music would start he’d find a partner, turn the spot into a dance floor and begin moving across the floor with that special smile. Derald & Alicia also loved going to Vegas and Solvang (Chumash); they enjoyed the time spent with family and friends and winning, of course, making the trips even more exciting! He leaves behind his devoted wife Alicia, his son Michael (Laurie), daughters Pam (Bill Black), Deralyn (Craig Porter), Wendy (Matt Thrush) Carolyn (Gilbert Avila) and Patricia (Ralph Garcia) 16 grandchildren and 9 great children. We love you and we miss you!
