She was born Denise Marie Ramos on June 9, 1962 in Thousand Oaks, CA. Denise loved God, her family, and her friends with an open heart that will be truly missed.
She gave birth to two lovely children, Kristin and John, during her first marriage to John O’Hara in 1985 and 1989, respectively. She put everything she had into raising them and seeing them grow into loving adults. She loved her grandchildren from Kristin: Emilene, Henry, and Jason. She loved attending their sports and school events.
Her second marriage was to Mark Barrett. She loved him and made him a better man. She always loved Jesus and after years of praying and reading the Bible, she returned to the Catholic Church. She helped her agnostic husband discover Jesus and become a Catholic. She loved attending the Traditional Latin Mass and often listened to Gregorian Chants at home. She shared her faith with as many people as she could.
She was a lovely big sister to Diane. She loved helping Diane get ready for school, including blow-drying her hair. They were very close, and they recently traveled to England and Ireland – a memorable experience that Diane will treasure always.
Denise loved movies and music. She was a stage mom to her young children as they did acting and modeling. She happily drove them all over Los Angeles. She turned her love for the entertainment industry into a career as a talent manager, helping actors and directors. She was passionate about her work and she loved working with her partner Robin. She love reading movie manuscripts and was active as a film producer.
She shared her love for music with her older brother Victor. She enjoyed being an Aunt to his four boys: Blake, Anthony, Jordan, and Christopher. She also maintained a close friendship with Victor's ex-wife Rose.
She was always learning something new and researching new interests. She will be missed by her forum group: Rene, Stacy, Amy, and Karen.
She battled breast cancer for nearly 20 years. She was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer in 2005. She had surgery to remove a lump and chose to fight it naturally. At the end of 2019, the cancer returned as Stage 4 breast cancer. She fought it hard with conventional and integrative therapies. She did all of these treatments with such courage and grace for four long years. She was truly a marvel. Sadly, her liver was ultimately overwhelmed with tumors and it failed. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 12, 2024.
She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
God rest her soul.
