David Maurice Qualls came into this life on May 31st 1942, born to Reverend Cullins L. Qualls and Ruby L. Qualls, the fifth of seven children. He graduated from Ventura High in 1960 he worked until he was drafted into the army, and humbly served our country for two years. He married the love of his life Jarutha Ann on March 7th 1964, and they spent forty-six years happily married. Upon his return from service, he resumed his career as a union cement mason for the following five decades. His leisure joys included hunting, camping, fishing, jazz music, and dancing. He was also a dedicated member of his beloved Monday Night Football Club, where he was a die hard 49ers fan.
David, known by many of his loved ones as “World” or “Ric-o-chet,” left this earth with his family by his side after a brave struggle with cancer early Saturday morning on November 6, 2010. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His life’s delight and largest pride were his children and grandchildren.
David and Ann had three children LaShane Sr. (Sonia), Janeau (Michael), Christopher (Ivy Grace), five grandchildren LaShane Jr. (Stephany) Jasmin, D’Angelo, Jaylen,Beatrice Ann and one great granddaughter Angelina Mariah. David is preceded in death By his parents his three brothers and one sister and two sons. He leaves behind three sisters JoEdna (James) Martha, Irene, Emma (Calvin) one brother Frank, sister in law Lorraine and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous relatives and friends.
A gathering of friends and family to view a photo slideshow and share fond memories will be held Friday, November 12, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the entrusted care of Perez Family Funeral Home located at 1347 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, CA. Please join us on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:00AM at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, located at 5400 Valentine Road in Ventura, CA, at a ceremony officiated by Pastor Frank Robinson to celebrate David’s life, unyielding spirit and lasting legacy.
In appreciation to all our friends and family who knoew and loved David. We've lost one of the Good Ones. Cindy and Joe who was always there, Edmundo and the E & M family, Larry, Nick, Pauline & Livingston Hospice for your wonderful care, and Davids beloved Monday Night Football group.
