Consuelo Rios

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Consuelo Lorenza Rios, lovingly known as Connie, on December 8th at the age of 90. She passed away peacefully at her home in Moorpark. Connie was the heart of our family, uniting us even though we live across different parts of the U.S. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and animal lover. Her warm smile, strength, feistiness, and detailed stories about her life will always be remembered by those who knew her. 

Connie was born on September 5, 1934, in Santa Paula, California, to Ignacio and Domitila Coronado. She was the cherished sister of Zunie, Gilbert, David, Betty, Susan Coronado, Cecilia, Sabina, Marlene, Al, Susan Perez, and Esther.

 In 1947, at the age of 13, Connie moved to Moorpark, where she later met and married Paulino Rios in 1953. Their loving marriage lasted 51 years and was blessed with eight children. Connie dedicated her life to raising her children and later worked as an inspector at Egg City and as a cashier at local grocery stores in Moorpark. 

Connie had a love for travel, spending time with her children and grandchildren, sharing meals with family and friends, and enjoying Tuesday "ladies’ nights." She loved going to the movies, attending Saturday mass, cheering for her beloved Los Angeles Lakers, listening to music, and reading James Patterson novels. 

Connie is survived by her children: Paul, Lawrence, David, Yolanda, Yvette, and Christopher. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her husband Paulino and her sons Ronald and Thomas.

 A memorial service to celebrate Connie’s life will be held on January 10th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church in Moorpark. The burial service will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery, with a reception at El Pescador Restaurant in Fillmore.
