Christopher Calderon

d. October 13, 2016

Christopher Calderon Ventura, CA Our dear and beloved Christopher Calderon left to be with the Lord Thursday morning, October 13, 2016 after losing his fight against cancer. Chris was born on April 16, 1977 in Ventura, California and was a lifetime resident. He was the beloved son of Hermelinda and Fabian Calderon; only brother to Adriana (Calderon) Ortiz, brother in law Mariano Ortiz, and big brother cousin David Magallanes; eldest grandchild of Benjamin and Alicia Calderon; Nino and Tio to Angelique Calderon, Tio to Ruby and Sophie Ortiz and best friend to Darren Thomas. He met Darren as well as many other of his closest and dearest friends playing baseball for Saticoy Little League. His love for baseball carried him over to Rio Mesa High School where he went on to play for their varsity team and also was on the wrestling team, he graduated in 1995. He then went on to attend and graduate from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix Arizona as a certified Harley Davidson mechanic. "Choringa" (Shorty), as affectionately nicknamed by his Yaya, was a motorcycle builder, customizing Harley riding man who loved nothing more than riding and soaking in the sun on the gorgeous beaches of his hometown, or on a boat out to sea, with a fishing pole in hand. He was a die-hard 49ers fan and spent barbequing and cheering for his team with his big family. Chris was a genuinely happy person who always smiled. His smile was very contagious and his distinctive laugh brought smiles to all those blessed to be in his presence. Sundays were his "Bob Marley Sundays", and those Sundays were spent jamming out to the sweet sound of Bob, specifically; "Three Little Birds", "No Woman No Cry", and "I Shot the Sheriff". Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents Jose and Rosa (Yaya) Gaona, and several uncles. Chris left an imprint on the lives of everyone he met. He was a well-loved individual who is going to be missed by all those that had the pleasure of knowing him. Although he was taken from us too soon, we find comfort in knowing that Chris is smiling down at us from heaven singing, "Don't worry about a thing, Cause every little thing gonna be alright". A rosary and viewing will be recited on October 20, 2016 at 6:30pm at Sacred Heart Church 10800 Henderson Road, Ventura, 93004 and on October 21, 2016 mass will be at 10:00am. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Perez Family Mortuary Home, Camarillo, Ca. 93010.
