Our Lord was pleased to bless this world by the birth of Anna Christine Chewning on May 7th, 1943. Christine was the 6th of 10 children born to Harold and Elizabeth Chewning. Raised in Redan and Decatur GA, Christine graduated from Decatur High School in 1962.
After meeting at the East Lake Methodist Church youth group in Atlanta GA, Christine married Charles L. Hubbard just before graduating from high school. They shared 48 committed years together.
Christine’s greatest love in life was children and our Lord blessed her with 6 of her own. As a young mother, Christine primarily stayed home to raise her children. She managed to attend a Beauty College and received her Beautician License, a skill she used through out her life to serve those she loved. In addition to her own children, Christine babysat for many friends and neighbors over the years, two of which she kept a life long relationship. Christine volunteered years of service to Girls Scouts and spent countless hours attending her kid’s ball games and swimming lessons each year. When her family was nearly raised, Christine became a school bus driver. She drove for the Pleasant Valley School District in Camarillo CA, driving for their Special Ed students for 13 years.
Slowly but surely the Lord moved Christine across the states from Georgia to MO, to UT, to CA. In addition to her life as a mother, the Lord began using Christine in Christian ministry when she attended Grace Baptist Church in Glendora, CA. She served alongside her husband in the church youth group. Later she served with Chuck in the College ministry at Faith Baptist Church in Somis, CA and then in the Seniors ministry at Bible Fellowship in Montalvo, CA. Eventually she also served in adult and elementary aged Sunday Schools as an assistant to Chuck at Valley Bible Community Church in Simi Valley CA. In all her areas of ministry, Christine was best known for her attentive compassion and listening ear. The Lord used Christine often to show unconditional love to those He brought across her path.
The Lord blessed Christine with 27 grandchildren. Of her multiple talents in creativity and joy in all things cute and beautiful, she had no greater joy than to cuddle a new sweet baby or watch the antics a budding toddler. Christine loved giving gifts to her loved ones and used her every resource to make sure her family had the things they needed and wanted.
In 1995 Chuck’s mother, Helen Hubbard, came to live with her and Chuck. Then in the year 2000, the Lord allowed 4 of their grandchildren to come live in the home. So for the last 10 years of her life, Christine had a full house and great blessing of children to love.
Christine trusted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. After a very long illness, the Lord in His wisdom and mercy brought Christine into His presence on her birthday, May 7th, 2010.
