Charles Wilmer (CW) Johnson Jr. “Bill”, 69 years old, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother passed away September 21, 2016 after years of struggling with heart and lung problems. Born and raised in Old Greenwich, CT, Bill graduated Greenwich High School in 1964 and Oklahoma University in 1968. Soon after he joined the United States Marine Corps and attended Officers Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia prior to serving in Viet Nam. Bill’s passion for golf started at a very young age when he worked at Innis Arden Golf Club in Old Greenwich, CT. He began as a caddie and worked his way up to become Assistant Golf Pro under Charlie Pugliese. With Bill’s interest in flying, he earned his pilots license. Bill started his career in California with Proctor & Gamble then moved onto Coronet Carpets where he was their #1 salesman for several years. From there he opened his own successful floor covering business, Johnson Floor Covering in North Hollywood that’s still going strong after 40 years. Bill was a member of North Ranch Country Club for 40 years. He served on the Board of Directors for many of those years. He founded and ran the Southwestern Intercollegiate Golf Tournament for 25 years. He also chaired the 1988 NCAA Golf Tournament. Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet and their two sons, Charley Johnson and Christopher Johnson, Charley’s wife Kristen and his beloved grandchildren Colby Wyatt and Scarlett Sofia, his siblings; Robert (Gail) Johnson, Janice (Jon) Caviola, Candy (Richard) Casey, Cindy (Bob) Bailey and Pam (Tom) Johnson-Bonvenuto, and many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Billy . A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, October 2, 2016 at The North Ranch Country Club, Westlake Village. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) www.DAV.
