December 28, 1921 – October 15, 2011
Cathryn R. Ford died peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2011, from congestive heart failure. She was 89 Years old.
The daughter of Walter and Francis Creed, Cathryn was born, raised and spent most of her early years in Sacramento, moving to Los Angeles with her husband, Robert Ford, in 1962, and then moved to Camarillo in 1981.
Cathryn was a woman who knew how to love. She loved her family and was especially devoted to and proud of her grandchildren, Robert and Daphne. She loved living in California. She loved domestic and international travel, and found never ceasing joy in visiting many of the National Parks. Her appreciation for all things beautiful sustained her to her very last hours.
Cathryn was a woman who drew pleasure from life’s simple things. Colorful flowers, big band music, and lively conversations made her happy. Giving to others was a natural extension of her generous heart. Volunteering at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica brought her immense joy and contentment. She engaged the spirit of fun and invoked it heartily in tournament bridge.
Cathryn’s final days were dignified by the compassionate care she received from Livingston Memorial Hospice and Mom’s Place Residential Care in Camarillo.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathryn Saliba, son-in-law, Mike Saliba, grandchildren Daphne Saliba and Robert Saliba, and Roberts’s wife, Margaret Swink.
