Cathleen Marie Cordova

Cathleen Marie Cordova (aka Cathy Simpson) Cathleen (Cathy) Marie Cordova, 50, returned home to be with her beloved mother Martha E. Cordova on winter solstice, December 21. Cathleen was born to Martha and Robert D. Cordova on September 14, 1963 in Santa Monica, California and moved to Camarillo in 1964. She graduated from Rio Mesa High School in 1981, and continued her education in the field of nursing. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother Martha Cordova (March 28, 2001), for whom she was primary caregiver. She commuted to Camarillo every morning for two years prior to her mother’s death to lovingly care for her. Her family believes she died of a broken heart, as she never recovered from the loss of her mother. She is survived by her devoted Father Robert D. Cordova and his fiancée Joanne Herie. Brothers Robert J. Cordova, of Ventura, Daniel J. Cordova of Camarillo and Christopher J. Cordova, Taiwan and Sissy Lisa Cordova (Craig) Schwarz. While she didn’t have children in this life, she provided childcare and support while helping raise her nephews and niece. She is also survived by nephews Jason M. (Claire) Cundiff, Jameson P. (Suzanne) Lingl, Goshen, Indiana, and Nolan Cordova, Camarillo. Niece Julie Cundiff (Joe) Nichols, and great nieces Kiley, Karleigh, Kristena and Kelli, Camarillo. She leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. With deep sorrow we have been left with our fond memories of the happy times we had with Cathleen. Cathy worked as a CNA for more than twenty years, most recently at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura. Cathy was blessed with a friendly disposition and generally loved to help others. In addition to her full time job, she always worked a second job providing home health care for the disabled, and lastly for her mother, Martha. Cathy loved her cats, cooking, volunteering at the River Community Church, and listening to the Grateful Dead, and the many friends in her ‘Ventura Family.’ She is also survived by long time companion Sean Heise with whom she lived with in Ventura. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Cathy’s life on January 4, 2014 at 11:30 am at the River Community Church, 889 E. Santa Clara St., Ventura, CA 9300. Please dress casually; tie-dye and shorts are appropriate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to River Community Church in Ventura to help support their many excellent programs.
