Carmen M. Quijada, beloved wife, mother, nana and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.
Carmen, was born July 18, 1926 in Piru, CA to Refugio and Refugia (Enriquez) Martinez. She grew up in Piru and attended Fillmore High School. Carmen was involved with San Salvador Mission Church as the Organist and Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus member. Carmen was known as an incredible cook, her tamales the best around. She also loved going to Pismo beach camping and fishing off the pier, spending time with family. Watching the Dodgers. Her friendly, helpful personality, kind spirit, and great cooking will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Marty Martinez, youngest sister, Katie Pillado, niece Sandy Molina, nephew Ernie Ponce.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Pete; their three children Pete Jr.(Wife Kari) of Moorpark, Marcelino (Wife Flora) of San Diego, and Tillie of Piru; 7 grandchildren, Marcelino Jr, Genevieve (Fiancé Kevin), Corrina, Jacob, Kayleigh, Reilly, Reece; four great-grandchildren, Javian, Julien, Brielle and Sierra; her sister Lupe Ponce of Fillmore and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Mass will be at San Salvador Mission Church, 4041 Center St, Piru, CA on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 10 am. Burial at Piru Cemetary, Reception is to follow at San Salvador Mission Church.
