Papa

My papa was one of the best human beings in this world. I never gave him enough credit for how sincere, humble, kind and bighearted he was in his life. His older brother was his inspiration and idol and my papa is mine. He was well accomplished with 4 masters degrees, two in mathematics and one each in chemistry and physics, and was loyal to a fault. He spent his entire career as a Geophysicist in oil exploration working for Western Geco;through the years, they changed their name, but papa was a steady constant. The trainer of many of those in leadership positions, he was the heart of his team. He was the one to celebrate accomplishments and the one who won the dart championship for his team. At home, he was the cutter of vegetables so fine, I could never live up to his skills with a knife. He was the body and my mother was the soul of their life together. Without her, he was always lost, looking for his way home. Although he was thousands of miles away, he always supported his family in India and kept them close to his heart. His sarcastic humor kept everyone laughing and second guessing their life decisions. He never used any bad language but could make you feel so small with his word wielding. He showed me what unconditional love means. He was the embodiment of what an ideal gentleman, husband, father, brother…a human being should aim to be in their time on Earth. He was my rock and my world will be forever filled with little earthquakes. His smile lit up the room and his sneeze could clear it. He was my first crush and my ideal man. I know my papa’s influence and presence in my life to be as significant as the air I breathe. Now, papa, I know you are home.
