Our beloved mother, Bonnie Rose Martin Cosher, went to be with her Lord Jesus, September 4, 2012, at the age of 90.
She was born July 11, 1922, in Bloomfield, Indiana, to Cynthia Jane and Thomas Rose. She was the youngest of 10 children.
She was married to Daniel Cosher in Ventura, CA, just before her 80th birthday. They had been young sweethearts, but circumstances separated them. When they both had lost their spouses, they found each other again and were married on June 8, 2002.
Bonnie moved to California from Somonauk, Illinois, in 1954, and moved to Ojai in 1960. In 1961 she became a dispatcher for the Ojai Police Department, and soon thereafter became a policewoman. She retired from the Police Department in 1973.
She lived in Colombia, South America, for three years, with her daughter Carol and family, who are missionaries there. She is lovingly called “Mamá Bonnie” by all of those who knew her.
She later lived in New City, New York, with her daughter Connie and family. Because of her vibrant personality, she made many friends.
She later returned to her beloved Ojai, where she will always be remembered as a generous, loving nanny to several children. She delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and helped care for them. She was forever young, so the children enjoyed her immensely. Until age 88, she taught water aerobics at Ojai Villa Mobile Estates, enjoying her friends who loved her in return.
She is survived by her husband Daniel Cosher of Ojai, her daughter Carol and son-in-law Ramon Babilonia of Ojai; grandchildren, Bonnie and husband Jan van Stelten, and great grandchildren Deborah and Joseph of Lichinga, Mozambique, Africa; Rachel and Ryan Connell and great grandsons, Joshua, Daniel, Eli and Jonah, of Ojai; and Ramon Daniel Babilonia of Camarillo. She is also survived by her daughter Connie and son-in-law Michael Napolitano of Ventura, and granddaughter Shelli Dadigan and great grandsons Keaton and Jagger of Ventura, all of whom loved her dearly and miss her very much.
She was an active member of the Ojai Wesleyan Church for many years, and was one to call when prayer was needed.
