Barbara Marie Cumbo, dearest wife, mother, grandmother, great grand mother, sister, and friend, crossed into eternity at age 79 surrounded by close family members. She was born in South Bend, Indiana, lived in Chicago, and moved to California in 1999 to retire and be with her California family. She dedicated her beautiful soprano voice to the service of God in her church choir, and was a devoted caregiver to those who had no family. She never missed a church bingo game and willbe remembered as the “Casserole Queen of Camarillo”. She loved to experiment with cooking new recipes and feeding those in need. She was known for her devotion to her husband, her understated strength, her quiet dignity, and her life long friendships that she made along the way. She is survived by her husband of over 40 years (Louis Cumbo), her dear Aunt Olga, (Wisz) her uncle, Father Bernard Panczuk, a Ukrainian Catholic priest from New York, her only brother Gerald Schmanski (Cathy), her daughters Sandra Markus-Litvak (Bill), Francine Grewe (Richard), Bernadette Watson ( Robert), her sons, Paul Sobczyk and William Sobczyk, her step children Chris Cumbo (Su), Bill Cumbo (Yasuko), Paul Cumbo (Joan), and Mariann Cumbo Lillibridge ( Dennis). She had many nieces including Theresa Materna, (Mark) and many nephews including Brian Schmanski. She had 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her sister, Phyllis Waldack and nephew Robert Waldack preceded her in death.
Her family would like to express their gratitude for the prayers, visits, and many acts of kindness, shown throughout her long hard struggle with diabetes and kidney failure. We are truly blessed to have been touched by her wonderful soul, her kind heart of gold, and she will forever remain in our hearts. We loved her dearly and she will be forever missed. May she rest in peace.
